This study examined the digital payment practices of local retail businesses in San Jose City through strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis. A descriptive-quantitative research method was employed, gathering data from 40 local retail businesses in San Jose City. This study revealed a diverse landscape of local retail businesses in terms of the size of companies, types of products or services offered, number of years in operation, ownership structure, nature of the business, business model, accepted digital payment, and frequency of digital payment transactions per month. The study also looks at the benefits and difficulties that local retail businesses have experienced while using digital transactions. It focuses on the essential technologies behind this shift and how customer behavior changes due to the ease and security of digital payment options. Furthermore, digital payments displayed a commitment to adapting digital payment methods in local retail businesses, which can offer several positive aspects such as customer convenience, increased sales, and improved efficiency. However, cyber security threats, technical glitches, limiting purchasers, and delay notification are the identified challenges experienced by retail businesses. To address these challenges, improved customer understanding, increased awareness, and accessibility of digital payment systems were analyzed. Implementing these recommendations would empower the adaptation of digital payment of local retail businesses in San Jose City to manage the threats using digital payment systems.
